Offa Bank Robbery Case: Saraki’s Kinsmen Seek Emir, Clerics’ Intervention

The kinsmen of the former senate president, Dr Bukola Saraki in Agbaji quarters of Ilorin, Kwara State on Wednesday called on the Emir of Ilorin, Alh Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, to urgently intervene in the resurrection of the 2018 Offa bank robbery case.

The people of Agbaji community urged the Emir to call all parties involved in the matter to order.

They also called on Ilorin clerics to intensify prayers as Ilorin Emirate must not be dragged into avoidable conflict.

Addressing journalists on the development, the national general secretary of Agbaji Development Association (ADA), Mohammed Ghali Jamiu, said that the case ” is a calculated political campaign driven by propaganda and deliberate attempts to tarnish the image of Dr. Bukola Saraki and the entire Saraki family.

“We have watched with growing anger and deep concern the recent developments in Ilorin Emirate involving the Wazirin Ngeri of Ilorin Emirate and former Senate president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki and the Sardauna Ngeri, Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

“Ilorin Emirate is not a theatre for political vendetta. The Saraki family has paid its dues in the history and development of Kwara State, and any attempt to rewrite that history through blackmail and public manipulation will be firmly resisted.

“Finally, we call on the Ulama to intensify prayers, as Ilorin Emirate must not be dragged into avoidable conflict.

“Enough is enough. Ilorin must remain a land of honour, not a battlefield for political intimidation and propaganda,” Jamiu added.

LEADERSHIP reports that the Kwara State government has filed a fresh 20-count charge, including culpable homicide against Saraki and former Governor Abdulfattah Ahmed over the 2018 deadly armed robbery attack on commercial banks in Offa, Offa local government area of the state.
