Victor Osimhen has climbed to third place on Galatasaray’s all-time scoring list for foreign players after continuing his impressive start to the new Süper Lig campaign.
The Nigeria international scored twice as Galatasaray secured a convincing 4-0 victory over Erzurum FK on Friday night, taking his overall tally for the Turkish giants to 62 goals in 76 appearances.
The brace saw Osimhen move past former Czech Republic international Milan Baros, who scored 61 goals during his spell with the Istanbul club.
The 27-year-old has also contributed 16 assists since joining Galatasaray, underlining his importance to Okan Buruk’s side.
Only two players rank above Osimhen on Galatasaray’s foreign scorers’ chart. Argentine striker Mauro Icardi leads the way with 77 goals, while Romanian legend Gheorghe Hagi is second with 72.
Osimhen’s latest performance also saw him match another notable Galatasaray record.
He became the first player since Brazilian striker Mario Jardel in the 2000/01 season to score at least four goals across the club’s opening two matches of a Süper Lig season.
The forward had already made a strong start to the campaign and has now continued his remarkable scoring form as Galatasaray seek to defend their domestic title.
With 62 goals already to his name, Osimhen is just 10 goals away from drawing level with Hagi and 15 behind Icardi as he continues his rapid rise among Galatasaray’s greatest foreign goalscorers.
