Adeleke commended the security operatives for their swift response that they did not disappoint by taking charge and ensuring that peace returned to the communities.

“I have to thank all the security agencies for their swift response. Immediately after we had that emergency meeting, they immediately took over the whole place and made sure everywhere was calm.

“Osun has been a very peaceful State, and these are what the security agencies have been doing and they didn’t disappoint me. And I’m happy that the whole place is calm, and thank you for doing that and I can assure you that we will keep doing what we need to do to provide whatever you need to make you work well,” the govenor said.

He added that the crisis has lingered for a long time. “When I first came in as the governor, I told them to listen, when they are fighting all the time because of land, there will be no development in the town, people will be scared of coming here.

“What I’m saying in essence is that, there is no need for fighting because of land and things like that.”

Govenor Adeleke added that a lot had been put in place to ensure that peace is permanently restored to the communities.

“I have given a directive that all the culprits be brought to book. I am not going to take nonsense anymore because it’s getting too much. My people are dying, houses are being burnt and that is not acceptable,” Adeleke said.

Meanwhile, Osun State Police Command disclosed that three suspects armed with a dane gun have been arrested in breach of the curfew imposed on the communities.

The police said thorough investigation will be conducted and suspects charged to court for prosecution accordingly.

Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Akeem Adeoye said Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Mohammed Umar Abba has ordered the deployment of more operatives to the warring communities to restore peace, law and order.

Adeoye said this followed resurgence of animosities between Ifon and Ilobu towns that led to murder, arson and willful destruction of lives and properties in the early hours of Friday, March 21, 2025 which subsequently spread to Erin-Osun.

He gave assurance that the Command, in collaboration with sister security agencies will do everything possible to prevent further bloodshed and breakdown of order through strict enforcement of 24-hour curfew declared by Governor Adeleke.

He added that the Command was monitoring the situation closely to fish out troublemakers and their sponsors with a bid to face the wrath of the law.
