Lagos played host to thousands of film lovers on November 1 as Movie in the Park delivered a Halloween-themed night of cinema, music and costume creativity at Muri Okunola Park, Victoria Island. From late afternoon, the park filled up with excited guests who enjoyed food, music and themed activities before the feature film of the night was screened.

The crowd settled in by 7:15 p.m. for IDIA, the newly released Nollywood film that held the audience spellbound. The cast added extra sparkle to the evening when they arrived for a meet-and-greet, giving fans a chance to interact and take memorable photographs.

The celebration transitioned smoothly into an energetic after-party that went on until midnight, with performances and DJ sets keeping the atmosphere upbeat.

Supported by Campari, Pepsi, Amstel Malta, Espolon Tequila, Wild Turkey, Munch IT, Reel Fruit, Twenties Tribe, News Central, TVC and Trace Naija, the outing further strengthened the event’s reputation as one of Nigeria’s most beloved outdoor movie gatherings.

Reflecting on the turnout, Ihechi Opara — founder and organiser of Movie in the Park — said he was inspired by the enthusiasm Lagosians displayed.
“Lagos truly came alive for this edition. We wanted to create an experience that went beyond just watching a movie — something that brings people together through film, music, and shared culture,” he said. “Seeing people dress up on theme, with their amazing costumes, added to the look and feel of our Halloween-themed movie experience.”

He added that the team aims to continue elevating the outdoor cinema culture across Nigeria. “Our goal has always been to redefine how people enjoy movies in Nigeria — to make it immersive, interactive, and memorable. With the support of our amazing partners and the incredible energy from Lagosians, this Halloween edition exceeded our expectations.”

More editions are expected soon across different cities.

After a successful debut in Port Harcourt, the Halloween stop in Lagos showed just how powerfully Movie in the Park is resonating with audiences nationwide.
