Palmer, Alexander-Arnold Recalled To England Squad As Foden misses Out

Cole Palmer and Trent Alexander-Arnold are back in the England squad after being absent from the World Cup, while Phil Foden has again been left out by Thomas Tuchel.

Tuchel’s latest selection covers a Nations League meeting with Spain next week, followed by two fixtures against the Czech Republic and a match against Croatia.

Rio Ngumoha and Alex Scott, who were both part of England’s pre-World Cup training camp in Florida, are included. Noni Madueke and Reece James, however, were not selected.

Jordan Henderson’s injury has created openings for Scott and Myles Lewis-Skelly, who has been playing in midfield for Arsenal early this season.

Speaking earlier this week about his World Cup choices, Tuchel said he had avoided picking players who would be unhappy serving only as squad members rather than regular starters. England finished third at the tournament.

Kobbie Mainoo, who did not play at the World Cup, keeps his place.

In attack, Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been called up, while Ollie Watkins, now playing in Saudi Arabia, misses out. Morgan Gibbs-White has also been overlooked.

Ivan Toney was left out of the squad as he awaits a court appearance on assault charges on September 24.
