A philanthropist, Alhaji Adamu Adama Hamza, the Gamji of Ekuzi, has called on Nigerians, particularly the people of Kogi State, not to see development as government responsibility alone.
Hamza, who is also the North Central coordinator for Tinubu 2027 re-election, however, called on the people to join hands with the government in community development as displayed by the people of Agbudu community in Kogi local government area of Kogi State.
A donation of N32 million was realised to develop riverine communities, specifically and to support the Ekuzi Progressive Association’s Unity House Permanent Site Project.
The Ekuzi Unity House Permanent site is located at Agbudu along Okpareke Okofi Road, a key project, amongst others, pioneered by community’s development efforts.
Alhaji Hamza, on behalf of the Hamza Foundation, donated N10 million in the form of 100 bags of Cement to widows and the less privileged in the Ekuzi Community whose buildings were affected by the flood.
The philanthropist also spearheads another N22 million donation for Riverine Community development Projects in Kogi LGA.
Alh Adamu Adama Hamza was conferred with an honorary chieftaincy title as Gamji of Ekuzi at the event for his several interventions in the upliftment of the riverine communities in Kogi LGA.
Speaking at the event, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, represented by Engr. Bashir Gegu, Kogi State commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, while donating the sum of N10million to Agbudu community, praised the Ekuzi Progressive Association (EPA) for its leadership in promoting development, unity, and peace among the riverine communities of Kogi local government area.
The Ohimege Igu of Kotonkarfi Kingdom, HRM Alhaji Saidu Akawu Salihu, who donated N1 million on behalf of Igu Kingdom, urged the people to unite in self-help projects.
The Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Sunday Karimi, donated N5 million. Bashiru Gegu, Kogi State Commissioner For Solid Minerals and Natural Resources donated N5million, and the member representing Lokoja Kogi federal Constituency, Hon. Suleiman Danladi Aguye donated the sum of N2 million, amongst other donations.
