Police in Adamawa State have apprehended a 22 -year- teacher for defiling two pupils.

Idris Abubakar of Unguwan Gaya in Mubi South LGA allegedly had sexual intercourse with his 11 and 12 years old victims (Almajiri).

The pupils who also hail from the community were being taught Islamic knowledge by the suspect.

Police spokesman SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje said one of the victims who is 12 years old said  the suspect used to ask him and the 11 year-old to work for him after closing hours.

“He normally delayed us after closing hours and engaged us in domestic activities like sweeping and washing of plates during which he takes advantage of us,” he said.

Also speaking, the mother of the 12 year-old victim told the PPRO that her son used to complain of stomach ache and was at the same time purging.

She said that prompted her to investigate the issue, saying the boy refused to tell her the truth until  she  threatened to take him to the police.

During interrogation, the suspect, on his part, told SP Nguroje that he was an Islamic teacher and, at the same time, an Imam. He denied the allegation levelled against him by the complainant and the victims. He admitted that he used to ask the boys to work for him after closing but that he did not defile them.
