Negotiations remain at a standstill after Wednesday’s high-stakes talks failed to produce a breakthrough for any of the three English Premier League clubs vying for the signature of Nigerian teenage sensation Zadok Yohanna.
According to a report from transfer expert Florian Plettenberg, discussions are set to resume today, with Newcastle United, Chelsea, and Brighton & Hove Albion still locked in a heated pursuit of the 18-year-old winger.
Brighton have emerged as particularly aggressive suitors, pushing hard to secure Yohanna’s services. However, they face stiff competition from Newcastle and Chelsea, both of whom remain firmly in the race alongside other unnamed clubs.
The young attacker currently plies his trade with Swedish outfit AIK, where he has quickly turned heads since breaking into the first team this season.
Brighton made the first move last weekend with a €23 million offer, only for Newcastle to counter with a €24 million bid for the highly rated prospect.
Yohanna’s impact in the Allsvenskan has been nothing short of remarkable. In just seven league appearances, the fleet-footed winger has found the back of the net twice and provided three assists, underlining why some of England’s biggest clubs are prepared to break the bank for his signature.
With no agreement reached and the clock ticking, today’s talks could prove decisive in determining which Premier League side ultimately lands one of Sweden’s most exciting young imports.
