President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to open the 2023 Commonwealth Youth and Students’ Summit,
African Region in Abuja today following his approval of Nigeria to host the meeting. The minister of sports and youth development, Mr Sunday Dare, who disclosed this, said the summit is jointly organised by the Youth Division of the Commonwealth Secretariat and the Commonwealth Youth Programme, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development of Nigeria. The minister in a statement signed by the ministry’s director of press and public relations,
Mohammed Manga, said the summit is an international forum where young people interact with heads of government and make direct inputs into their commitment towards the development of the youth of their countries. Dare therefore called on the youth to remain focused so as to derive maximum benefits from the Summit with a view to contributing positively to the socioeconomic development of the African Region.
