PSG Face Injury Setbacks As Dembele, Doue Ruled Out For Weeks

Paris Saint-Germain has suffered a double injury blow, with forward Ousmane Dembele expected to be sidelined for approximately six weeks due to a hamstring injury, while winger Desire Doue will be out for around four weeks due to a calf issue.

Both players sustained their injuries during France’s 2-0 victory over Ukraine in the World Cup qualifiers. Doue was substituted for Dembele at halftime, only for the latter to limp off in the 81st minute.

Dembele, a favourite for this year’s Ballon d’Or, played a pivotal role in PSG’s treble-winning season last year, scoring 35 goals and providing 16 assists across all competitions.

In a statement, PSG confirmed, “Ousmane Dembele has suffered a serious injury to his right hamstring and is expected to be unavailable for around six weeks. Desire Doue also suffered a strain in his right calf and will be out for around four weeks.”

PSG’s next fixture is against Lens in Ligue 1 on 14 September, followed by the start of their Champions League title defence against Atalanta three days later. Their busy September schedule also includes Ligue 1 matches against Olympique de Marseille and Auxerre, leading up to a highly-anticipated Champions League clash with Barcelona on 1 October.

Meanwhile, France will host Iceland in their World Cup qualifiers on Tuesday.
