Super Falcons To Know Olympic Qualifying Opponents In Cairo Draw Today

Nigeria’s Super Falcons are set to learn their opponents for the African qualifying series for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games Women’s Football Tournament, with the draw scheduled for today, April 29,  in Cairo, Egypt.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) confirmed that the draw ceremony will be held at its headquarters and broadcast live on CAF TV from 12 noon, allowing fans across the continent to follow proceedings in real time.

A total of 35 national teams, including Nigeria, will participate in the qualification process, which will be contested over five rounds. The format promises a rigorous pathway, as teams battle for one of the two coveted slots allocated to Africa at the Olympic Games.

The Super Falcons, one of Africa’s most successful women’s teams, will be aiming to secure qualification once again after representing the continent at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris alongside Morocco. Nigeria will be determined to build on that experience and reaffirm their status as a dominant force in African women’s football.

The qualifiers are expected to be highly competitive, with emerging nations continuing to close the gap on traditional powerhouses. Teams such as South Africa, Morocco, and Zambia are likely to provide stiff opposition.
