Tight Security As President Tinubu Visits Yobe Saturday

In readiness for President Bola Tinubu’s visit to Yobe State on Saturday, July 20, 2024, to launch a multi-million Naira agricultural empowerment scheme, including the distribution of agricultural implements and inputs, among others, security has been beefed up in parts of the state capital.

LEADERSHIP reports that security personnel, including military, Police, the Civil Defence Corps, and officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and the state’s Road Traffic Agency, were drafted to strategic locations ahead of the visit.

The roads manned by the security operatives in Damaturu include 27, August Stadium, Presidential Lodge, Emir’s palace and Ahmadu Bello Way.

In a similar development, Yobe State governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, has met with the heads of security agencies to deliberate on the security arrangements.

The meeting, according to the governor, was to sustain collaboration with other stakeholders to ensure that the President’s visit was hitch-free and peaceful.

The governor was represented at the meeting by his deputy, Hon. Idi Barde Gubana, who expressed confidence that the visit would be conducted in a peaceful manner through synergy with the security agencies and stakeholders in the state.

He commended the security agencies for their effort in ensuring peace, law and order in the state.

Shortly after the meeting, Commissioner of Police, Yobe State Command, CP Ahmad Garba, briefed journalists on the outcome of the meeting.

He explained that security operatives would be deployed to provide proactive security measures across the state.

He further appealed to the people of the state to continue to support the security agencies and provide necessary and timely information, especially as regards the planned presidential visit.

Governor Buni equally advised youths to conduct themselves in a peaceful manner. He also advised them to avoid thuggery activities and misconduct.

The chairman of the publicity sub-committee of the presidential visit committee and Commissioner for Home Affairs, Information and Culture, Abdullah Bego, confirmed to LEADERSHIP that arrangements had been concluded to received President Tunibu in the State on Saturday.
