The Coalition of Nigerian Youth Leaders (CONYL) has lauded President Bola Tinubu for what it described as “a display of sound judgment and leadership” in the recent appointments to the board of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).
In a statement signed by its president general, Comrade Goodluck Ibem, the umbrella body representing youth groups across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones congratulated Engineer Bashir Bayo Ojulari on his appointment as the Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of NNPCL as well as Ahmadu Musa Kida, who was named the new Non-Executive Chairman of the board.
According to CONYL, President Tinubu “chose the best hands for the job,” noting that the appointments were well-deserved and timely, given the strategic role of the NNPC in Nigeria’s economic landscape.
“We commend President Tinubu for his wisdom in assembling such a competent and diverse team to steer the affairs of the NNPC Limited,” the statement read. “Engineer Ojulari and Mr. Kida, alongside other board members, bring a wealth of experience, vision, and professionalism that will undoubtedly position the Corporation for greater performance and global relevance,” they said.
CONYL also congratulated Adedapo Segun who was confirmed as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) as well as newly appointed board members representing various regions: Bello Rabiu (North-West), Yusuf Usman (North-East), Babs Omotowa (North-Central), Austin Avuru (South-South), David Ige (South-West) and Henry Obih (South-East).
The youth coalition further acknowledged Lydia Shehu Jafiya of the Ministry of Finance and Aminu Said Ahmed of the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, who will represent their respective ministries on the board.
Describing the appointments as a “remarkable milestone,” the group expressed confidence that the new leadership would drive innovation, transparency and efficiency in the oil and gas sector.
“We look forward to the transformation that this new board will deliver. This is a pivotal moment for the NNPC Limited, and we believe these appointees will bring about lasting reforms, foster industry collaboration, and strengthen Nigeria’s energy position globally,” CONYL said.
