Troops of “Operation Whirl Punch” have arrested driver of a vehicle laden with arms and ammunition in Kaduna State.
A statement by the director Defence Media Operation Major General Musa Danmadami said the troops while acting on credible intelligence conducted a search operation at Polewire along Kaduna-Birnin Gwari road in Kaduna State and intercepted a black Toyota Corolla.
He said the troops searched the vehicle and discovered arms hidden in different compartments of the vehicle.
“Troops however arrested one suspect (the driver) and recovered 1,079 rounds of 7.62mm special, 886 rounds of 7.62mm NATO (belted), 139 rounds of 7.62mm special (tracer) and 5 AK 47 empty magazines” he said.
The military high command commended troops of “Operation Whirl Punch” and called on the general public to provide troops with credible and timely information on criminal activities.
