The Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association, (NVMA), Zamfara State Chapter, has commended Governor Dauda Lawal for approving and implementing the new Consolidated Medical Salary Structure, (CONMESS), for Veterinary Doctors in the state.
The commendation was contained in a statement issued by the chairman of NVMA, Zamfara State chapter, Dr. Mukhtar Salihu Anka, and made available to newsmen in Gusau.
Dr. Anka described the implementation of the new salary structure as a significant milestone for the veterinary profession in Zamfara State.
He said it was a demonstration of the administration’s commitment to workers’ welfare, professional recognition and the development of the livestock and animal health sector.
The NVMA chairman noted that veterinary doctors play a critical role in safeguarding animal health, improving livestock productivity, protecting public health, controlling zoonotic diseases, ensuring food safety and contributing to the economic development of the state.
According to him, the association particularly appreciates Governor Lawal for recognising the importance of veterinary services and taking concrete steps to address longstanding concerns over appropriate remuneration and professional welfare of Veterinary Doctors in the state.
He expressed optimism that the implementation of the new salary structure would boost the morale of veterinary doctors, enhance productivity and encourage them to continue providing quality services to livestock farmers and residents of the state.
Dr. Anka reaffirmed the association’s commitment to supporting the state government’s efforts to improve animal health, promote livestock development, safeguard public health and advance the socio-economic development of the state.
He described the governor’s decision as a landmark intervention and prayed for continued wisdom, success and progress for the governor and his administration.
