7 Escape Death As 2-storey Building Collapses In Lagos

Seven persons, on Wednesday morning, escaped death after a two-storey building collapsed at Number 12 Cameroun Street, Off Ewenla Street, in the Mushin area of Lagos State.

The building, it was gathered, collapsed during the early morning downpour which began on Tuesday and continued on Wednesday.

A statement by the Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, said rescue team at the scene of the incident discovered that the collapsed building was newly constructed.

According to Oke-Osanyintolu, the seven rescued persons consist of three females and four males and they have been taken to a nearby hospital for treatment as of the time of filing this report.

The agency also said its rescue team has searched the rubble, confirming that there was no other victim underneath the collapsed building.

It added that the area had been cordoned off and that rescue operations were still ongoing in the area.
