Six Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members in the House of Representatives on Tuesday defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

This is just as two lawmakers from the Labour Party (LP), namely Hon. Obetta Chidi and Hon. Dennis Agbo both from Enugu State defected to the PDP.

The decampees from the PDP to APC include the longest serving member of the House, Hon. Nickolas Mutu and five of his colleagues from Delta state – Hons Victor Nwokolo, Thomas Ereyitom, Nnamdi Ezechi, Julius Pondi, and Ukodhiko Jonathan.

Their notices of defection were conveyed through separate letters read by Speaker Abbas Tajudeen at resumed plenary after Ramadan and Easter breaks.

In their respective letters, the lawmakers cited internal crises and unresolved divisions within their parties as the reasons for their defections.

Unresolved wranglings within the PDP and LP have seen a depletion of the parties’ ranks in the National Assembly.

The national leaderships of the two parties have been beguiled by a lengthy legal leadership crisis.
Despite the ruling of the Supreme Court on their crises, the warring camps have refused to back down as each camp insists the court judgement were favorable to them.
