Eighteen months after, the Imo State House of Assembly has recalled its former deputy speaker Hon. Okey Onyekanma representing Mbaitoli, and Hon. Ekene Nnodim, for Orlu state constituency from suspension

Onyekanma was deputy speaker during Chief Emeka Ihedioha tenure while Nnodim’s house was razed and his security guard beheaded.

Both men were suspended on December 24, 2021, while the seat of the Ngor Okpala member was declared vacant even as the Independent National Electoral Commission has since held election and Hon Blyden Amajironwu elected.

The decision to recall the suspended lawmakers was based on the report of an ad-hoc committee headed by the majority leader and member representing Owerri west state constituency, Hon. Onyemaechi Dele.
