Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN), has directed its members to suspend the nationwide indefinite strike it embarked upon three weeks ago to compel appropriate authorities to implement financial autonomy for states assemblies.

The chairman of PASAN in Nasarawa State, Comrade Suleiman Oshafu, told journalists in Lafia yesterday that the directive came from the national body of the union.

Oshafu therefore urged members in the state to resume at their respective duty posts on Tuesday, November 21.

He said the decision to call off the strike was as a result of the agreement reached between the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF), Conference of Speakers of State Houses of Assembly and the PASAN national executive at a meeting held in Abuja on Friday, November 17, 2023.

According to him, part of the agreement includes full implementation of financial autonomy of the state assemblies commencing from January, 2024 and full implementation of Consolidated Legislative Salary Structure (CONLESS).
