Kebbi State Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has presented of writing materials consist of books,  pencils,  biros and foodstuffs as support initiative to over  1,700 pupils of the famous Gwandu Emirate Model Primary School, Birnin Kebbi in Kebbi State.

The gesture, according to the command, was part of its corporate and social responsibility as well as resilience to encourage generations to become responsive in the society.

The items were presented in a brief ceremony held at the premises of Primary School along Ahmadu Bello Way in Birnin Kebbi metropolis by the Customs Comptroller of Kebbi State Command, Iheanacho Earnest Ojike .

Ojike had informed both teachers and the pupils in the school that the gesture was also meant to interact with them particularly the pupils to understand the duties of Customs in order to understand the law of the nation and contributions of Customs to the nation’s economy.

He said that part of the nation’s income is what has been collected as revenue from corporate organisations, other exported and imported commodities, contraband at borders, seaports and railways by Customs and other revenue collectors .

This gesture is also part of the Comptroller General’s policy collaboration which is expected to portray the pupils at their tender age as humans and responsible with compassion to have a feeling of joining Customs Service after completion of their school for nation’s building.” The Comptroller said.

“We are here to present you a small token gift as part of our responsibility in Customs Service and to educate you on the activities of Customs which include revenue generation and fight against smuggling in the state and the country. “ he added.

Responding,  Headmaster of the School,  Malam Aminu Sani expressed his delight and thanked the officers of Customs in the state led by Comptroller,  Ojike Earnest for the gesture which according to him,  has put smiles and happiness on the faces and minds of pupils of the school.

Malam Sani however urged Customs Command of the state to sustain the gesture by extending it to other schools across the state and called on other organisations to emulate Command giant action.
