The Action Peoples Party (APP), Cross River State chapter, has concluded its governorship consensus primary ahead of the 2027 general elections, with Engr. Nya Basil Bassey emerging as the party’s flag bearer.

The state publicity secretary of the party, Mr. Odinta Clifford Ekawon, said the consensus process was conducted in a peaceful and transparent atmosphere devoid of rancour or internal conflict.

He said the exercise reflected the unity and democratic maturity of party members across Cross River State, adding that it demonstrated the APP’s readiness to present a united front ahead of the 2027 polls.

Ekawon described the process as a clear indication of internal cohesion within the party, noting that it positioned APP strongly for the upcoming elections.

In his acceptance speech, Nya Basil thanked the party leadership and members for the confidence reposed in him, describing his emergence as a call to service.

He pledged to work towards repositioning Cross River State for sustainable growth and development if elected governor.

According to him, his administration would focus on infrastructure development, job creation, education, healthcare delivery, and good governance anchored on accountability and transparency.

Also speaking, the party chairman, Effiom Edet, commended the aspirants for their sportsmanship and commitment to party unity during the consensus process.

Edet also appreciated the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, the media and other stakeholders for ensuring a smooth and hitch-free process.

The APP reaffirmed its commitment to fielding credible candidates across all elective positions and urged residents of Cross River State to support its vision of a prosperous, united and progressive state.

The party said it would soon unveil its campaign structure and manifesto as preparations for the 2027 general elections intensify.
