Phyna, Nkechi Blessing Take Social Media Feud To Boxing Ring

Reality TV star Phyna and Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing are set to take their recent social media dispute into the boxing ring as they face off in a celebrity bout scheduled for October 1 in Lagos.

The contest, tagged “Phyna vs Nkechi,” will hold at the Federal Palace Hotel as part of Balmoral Group Promotions’ “Chaos in the Ring” series.

The organisers announced the matchup on Friday, September 18, with promotional material showing both entertainers dressed in boxing gear ahead of the Independence Day event.

The announcement followed a heated exchange between the two women on social media. Nkechi had publicly criticised Phyna for her frequent involvement in online disputes, while Phyna questioned why the actress had addressed her publicly and explained that the two had previously communicated about a movie project.

With the boxing announcement, an online disagreement that had played out on social media now has a scheduled live-event component.

The bout will also form part of a wider “Chaos in the Ring” programme that combines professional boxing with celebrity entertainment.

Previous editions have featured entertainers including Portable, Charles Okocha, Speed Darlington and Carter Efe. Carter Efe defeated Portable by unanimous decision in May, while Charles Okocha won their subsequent rematch in July.

The October 1 event is expected to reach audiences beyond the venue, with the organisers announcing live broadcast coverage on DAZN and SuperSport.

Beyond the rivalry between the two entertainers, the matchup further illustrates how Nigerian celebrity culture and live boxing are being combined to create entertainment spectacles built around personalities, social media attention, and physical events.

The organisers had not announced details of the undercard and ticketing arrangements for the Phyna-Nkechi bout as of Saturday.
