The council’s director of administration, Mr Danlami Awaje, made this known in a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja yesterday.

He said the decision became necessary following a security report received by the council that the activities of the association had seriously affected the peace and progress of the market.
Awaje said despite all efforts by the council through several meetings with the leadership to broker peace, they had persistently refused to allow peace to reign.

The director further said as the owners of the market and desirous of ensuring peace and development of the market, the council could not fold its arms and watch the association derail its focus on development and progress of the market.

He added that given the forgoing, the activities of the association had been suspended forthwith.
