Ugochinyere, who represents Ideato North/South Federal Constituency of Imo State, said the lawmakers were confident that Bichi will do well on his new legislative role.

According to him, Bichi with his wealth of experience will reform the budget committee and bring the appropriation process to be at par with developed countries.

Ugochinyere said, “The Standing Committee on Appropriations deals with the Budget, I believe Abbas made the right choice selecting Bichi who was the Chairman of the Committee on Works in 9th Assembly, as Chairman Appropriation Committee for Tenth Assembly.

“Being Chairman of the Committee on Works, Abubakar provided legislative support and checkmate to critical road projects across the country in engagement with contractors and the Ministry of Works and Housing. He led the committee to oversee projects such as the Lagos-Badagry Road, Abuja-Kano Road, Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano Road and so on. The 9th House under the leadership of Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila was able to end the delay in budget passage. With Bichi as Chairman, Appropriation Committee, I’m sure the tempo will be sustained and he will reform the budget committee and bring appropriation process to be at par with developed countries.”
