Bauchi District Head Seeks Renovation Of General Hospital

District head of Miri, a suburb of Bauchi metropolis, Hussaini Abubakar has pleaded with the Bauchi State government to rehabilitate the dilapidated Bayara General Hospital to give access to quality healthcare service delivery to the people.

LEADERSHIP Weekend reports that Bayara General Hospital has been renowned for offering top-notch chest-related health services for years.

The monarch made plea during a medical outreach and free screening of TB and HIV/AIDs organised by Breakthrough Action Nigeria in collaboration Bauchi State Agency for Control HIV-AIDs, Tuberculosis and Malaria (BACATMA)

He emphasized the need for the state government to rehabilitate the general hospital for the benefit of patients and the community as a whole because the hospital is treating patients with tropical diseases like leprosy, TB, and malaria among others.

“The honourable commissioner for Health, you may wish to look around the hospital and take an inventory of some of the dilapidated structures. We hope you will fix them in near time,” he said

On his part, executive chairman of BACATMA, Dr Sani Dambam warned residents of the state against unprocessed cow milk, adding that many cases have been reported from the practice.

“We noticed that Tuberculosis is very common among the Fulani herders because they drink cow milk mostly unprocessed. Findings indicate that they mostly get the disease from the cow,” Dambam said.
