Music popstar Peter Hernandez, alias Bruno Mars, recently received a key to the city of Las Vegas as well as a street named in his honour just ahead of the commencement of his The Romantic Tour.
‘The Lazy Song’ singer was honoured with a series of festivities and recognitions ahead of the performance on the Las Vegas Strip and in Clark County.
Mars captioned his video on Instagram, “Got my very own street and kicked off the Romantic World Tour. Thank you, Las Vegas.”
April 10 has officially been announced as “Bruno Mars Day,” honouring the artiste’s “deep roots” and continuing connection to the city, where he is reported to have performed for over 10 years, a press statement noted.
A series of celebrations comprising a parade down Las Vegas Boulevard, followed by a ceremony and a surprise show at Toshiba Plaza, was held in his honour.
The highlight of the event was a ceremony in which Mars was presented with a key to the Las Vegas Strip for his contributions to the city’s cultural heritage.
He was also honoured with an uncommon tribute: Park Avenue was formally renamed “Bruno Mars Drive.”
