Ugwumba Leadership Center (ULC), has awarded scholarship to a Nigerian teenager repatriated from Ghana.

In a statement issued to newsmen yesterday in Abuja, ULC president Uche Nwosu announced the scholarship approval for Divine Asuzu, one of the girls rescued from trafficking.

Nwosu said, “The Board and Management of ULC has approved the scholarship of Divine Asuzu, one of the rescued girls, who was trafficked to Ghana.”

According to him, ” The Ugwumba Leadership Center after discussing with the parents of Miss Divine Asuzu; one of the rescued girls who hails from Amaokpara community in Nkwerre LGA, Imo State, who indicated her interest to continue with her education, has been given a scholarship.”

“This is not the time to pass judgement on those young girls, who may have already passed through emotional and psychological trauma. Let’s embrace them with love and help them regain their place of honor and value in the society,” he said.

Nwosu expressed gratitude to the governor of Imo State, His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma, for his swift rescue of the underage trafficked girls back home and to the Diaspora personalities, who identified and raised the alarm that led to their rescue.
