The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Katsina State has affirmed Senator Garba Yakubu Lado Danmarke as its consensus governorship candidate for the 2027 general elections.

The affirmation, which took place yesterday at the party’s state headquarters in Katsina, attracted thousands of party supporters, stakeholders, women’s and youth groups, students, and delegates from the state’s 34 local government areas.

Also present at the exercise were the party’s three senatorial aspirants, 15 House of Representatives aspirants and 34 aspirants seeking seats in the Katsina State House of Assembly under the PDP platform.

Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), led by the returning officer, Muhammad Kankara, supervised the exercise.

Announcing the result, Kankara said a total of 77,085 delegates and party members were accredited, while 77,013 votes were cast during the exercise.

According to him, all valid votes cast were in favour of Senator Danmarke, who was returned unopposed as the PDP consensus governorship candidate for the 2027 election in Katsina State.

“Having scored the majority of the lawful votes cast, Senator Garba Yakubu Lado Danmarke is hereby declared the winner of the PDP governorship primary election in Katsina State,” Kankara announced.

Speaking separately, the party’s senatorial aspirants – Aliyu Amar, Muhammad Khalil, and Hamisu Gambo (Dan Lawan) representing Daura, Funtua, and Katsina senatorial districts respectively, thanked party supporters for their loyalty and confidence in the PDP.

The party urged members to remain united and work towards defeating the ruling APC in the 2027 general elections.

“If you can’t beat us, join us,” Dan Lawan declared while addressing supporters at the venue. In his acceptance speech, Senator Danmarke expressed his appreciation to party leaders and supporters for the confidence reposed in him, promising not to disappoint them.
