Rudeboy, the one-half of the singing and performing duo, PSquare has advised young upcoming music artistes to never underestimate the role their mentors or managers play in their career.

Rudeboy who spoke in an interview with the Afrobeats Podcast, noted that in the past couple years he has been intentional about working with and promoting young and fledgling artistes noted that oftentimes, the latter don’t realize the value of their mentors and managers, only to fall victims to Karma.

“I always tell young people it is very difficult that something your parents cannot do for you, someone is doing for you. There is always this karma that occurs when someone will put in all his sweat, and one day you think you are a bigger artiste. Trust me, the moment that person leaves, everything goes. That is why you see some people begin to cry, “this person owes me this, or that person owes me that. No. You left because you think you are big. You don’t know the burden this person was carrying. Now the moment they are gone, you couldn’t do the job. You have realized this person have been doing the job but you didn’t know.”

While he empathised with the young artistes who are under pressure and in a haste to succeed, Rudeboy said they should take the time to understand the music industry as a business, to mature into their own.

“I have worked with so many young people, and signed some. Some worked out, others didn’t. As a person trying to put them out there, it’s because I want them to experience what it’s like so they understand this is not a game. It is business. When you come here (London, on shows) you see how its done, so when we return to Nigeria, they will say, “Wow, I have not started work. There is much work to be done,” he concluded.
