United States President, Donald Trump, has issued a stark warning to Iran, declaring that the country could be “taken out in one night” if it fails to comply with American demands ahead of a looming deadline tied to tensions in the Strait of Hormuz.
Speaking during a press conference on Monday, Trump intensified earlier threats, saying the United States possessed the military capability to devastate Iran’s infrastructure within hours.
“The entire country could be taken out in one night, and that night might be tomorrow night,” Trump said.
He further warned that key national assets would be targeted in a coordinated assault if Tehran does not yield.
“We have a plan, because of the power of our military, where every bridge in Iran will be decimated by 12 o’clock tomorrow night, where every power plant in Iran will be out of business ; burning, exploding and never to be used again… I mean complete demolition, by 12 o’clock,” he added.
Trump noted that such an operation could be executed in as little as four hours, but maintained that Washington would prefer to avoid that outcome.
“And it’ll happen over a period of four hours if we want it to. We don’t want that to happen,” he said.
The latest remarks followed a 48-hour ultimatum issued by the US president over the weekend, in which he warned Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz to global shipping or face severe military consequences. The vital waterway is a key route for global oil supplies, making the standoff a major concern for international markets.
Meanwhile, Iran has reportedly rejected a proposed ceasefire deal, insisting instead on a permanent end to hostilities, further dimming prospects for de-escalation.
The exchange marked a significant escalation in rhetoric between Washington and Tehran, raising fears of a potential military confrontation with far-reaching geopolitical and economic implications.
