In observance of the 2023 World Mental Health Day, Nigeria’s First Lady, Remi Tinubu, has urged the nation to prioritise mental wellbeing and offer support to those grappling with emotional and psychological burdens.
Against the backdrop of contemporary challenges, particularly the pressures emanating from social media and society at large, Mrs Tinubu emphasised the paramount importance of recognising and addressing mental health issues.
She stressed that collective action was essential to assist those affected by these challenges.
The First Lady underscored the critical role of candid conversations, particularly with the youth, to enhance mental health, foster emotional management, and cultivate healthier relationships.
These efforts, she believed, will ultimately contribute to increased productivity and personal growth.
She emphasised that mental wellbeing should be regarded as a universal right for all citizens.
In a unifying call, the First Lady urged traditional rulers, religious leaders, NGOs, and all Nigerians to collaborate with the government in supporting those in need.
She emphasised that together, they can create a society where mental wellness is a priority, and every individual feels valued and contributes to societal growth.
