In a significant development for both Victor Osimhen and Galatasaray, the Turkish Super Lig champions have committed to paying the €75 million release clause from Serie A giants Napoli. This agreement brings an end to the uncertainty surrounding the striker’s future, a situation that has been clouded by various bids and negotiations.

Initially, Galatasaray’s pursuit of Osimhen faced hurdles as two separate offers, reportedly in the region of €60 million, were swiftly rejected by Napoli. The Italian club maintained its stance, insisting on the full release clause amount, which is applicable for clubs outside of Italy until 15 July.

Osimhen, who spent the 2024/25 season on loan at Galatasaray, found remarkable success during his tenure with the Istanbul-based club.

In a formidable display of talent, the 26-year-old forward netted 37 goals and provided eight assists in 41 appearances across all competitions. His contributions were pivotal in leading Galatasaray to secure a domestic double, reinforcing his status as one of Europe’s most sought-after strikers.

With the release clause now activated, reports from Sky Sports indicate that Osimhen will earn an annual salary of €16 million over a four-year contract. This represents a significant increase compared to the €12 million he was paid during his loan period at Galatasaray last season.

The confirmation of this transfer is expected to stir excitement among Galatasaray supporters, who will welcome back their star forward on a permanent basis. Meanwhile, Napoli will look to reinvest the funds as they strategise for their upcoming season.

Osimhen’s move underscores both his rising stock as a player and Galatasaray’s ambitions in the Turkish league and beyond, as they aim to build a squad capable of competing at the highest levels in European football.

The deal marks a new chapter for Osimhen, who now has the opportunity to further showcase his talents in a league that has embraced him so warmly.
