Taraba State governor, Dr Agbu Kefas, has vowed that his administration would not tolerate any form of violence and ethnic restiveness in the state.
The governor stated this while reacting to the recent ethnic killings in the southern part of Taraba State, stating that his government would continue to deal decisively with all criminals and acts of criminality no matter where they are happening in the state.
In a statement signed by the special adviser to the governor on Media and Digital Communications, Hon Emmanuel Bello, the governor said security agencies have already been fully equipped to speed up dealings with all trouble makers and sufficiently empowered to enforce law and order irrespective of who is involved.
“My administration has zero tolerance for violence and ethnic restiveness. All tribes can live together in harmony if they are honest and have mutual respect for each other,” he said.
He also said that criminals killing innocent persons in the name of any tribe are doing it at their own peril and would be treated as violators of the law.
“If any tribe has any issue, there are ways to go about settlement and not by taking the laws into their hands. There are dialogue machineries in place, we have the justice departments, community leaders and elected leadership. These are avenues through which scores can be settled amicably. Most of these criminals are those hiding under the guise of seeking justice for their tribes through violent means. They shall be fetched out and appropriately dealt with,” the governor stated.
