Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has received commendation for his strategic vision and substantial investment in critical infrastructure projects. These include the state’s extensive road network, the Muhammadu Buhari Industrial Park, solar-powered street lights, and various green-oriented initiatives, all of which are essential for attracting investors.
Dr. Jubril Adeojo, Lead Consultant from SMEFUNDS and ONYX, praised Governor Inuwa Yahaya for meeting the key attributes investors look for before committing to a state.
He was speaking during an interactive session with key stakeholders in the sectors of water, energy, environment, and the 3G project coordination to facilitate access to green bonds for financing development projects in Gombe State.
Dr. Adeojo emphasized that Gombe State has fulfilled most of the criteria required to access the Green and Sustainability Bond, as evidenced by the numerous projects outlined for funding.
He assured that if the framework for the actualization of this bond is achieved, Gombe State will be the first subnational entity in Nigeria and Africa to secure a Green and Sustainability Bond.
Highlighting the success stories of the 3G project, the Bricket Project as an alternative to charcoal, and the SURWASH Programme, Dr. Adeojo was notably impressed, prompting a tour of various project sites in the state for assessment.
During his presentation, Dr. Jubril Adeojo underscored the importance of these initiatives in achieving sustainable development, saying high-level stakeholder interaction underscored Gombe State’s commitment to sustainable development and its readiness to implement green projects that will drive economic growth and environmental sustainability.
