A group, Bayelsa Renaissance, has berated members of the opposition under the cover of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) for criticising Governor Douye Diri’s infrastructural development and empowerment strides in the last three years.

According to the group, despite the roads, infrastructure, women and youth empowerment, seurity and workers welfare initiated and completed under the present administration, the misrepresentation of the facts by the few IPAC members led by Brisibe Kpodoh showed a deliberate malice towards an administration adjudged excellent by the people of the State.

IPAC, through Kpodoh, had on Thursday alleged that the state government showed signs of ignorance, lack of touch with reality and self confusion with false claims that the state, under governor Douye Diri, has shown signs of slow development, rising poverty, and lack of empowerment .

But the group, in a statement issued yesterday and signed by its coordinator, Comrade Tony Bisegha, argued that the likes of Kpodoh are ignorant and being sponsored to stir the calm and peaceful disposition of the present administration with blind, false claims, adding that “governor Douye Diri, in less than three years, restored order in the polity and ensured security of lives and property”.

“Though, the opposition never gave him a chance at performance. But today, majority of Bayelsans, across the length and breadth of the State, have come to appreciate the trajectory of development since Governor Douye Diri came into office in 2020.

“He has turned Bayelsa into a massive construction yard with ongoing multiple road and other infrastructural projects. Through these projects, thousands of jobs have been created with an improved local economy.

“The commitment he has shown to the three Senatorial roads is unparalleled. Good to know that the Sagbama-Ekeremor road is ready while work is at an advanced stage on Yenagoa-Oporoma-Ukubie road. The Angiama-Oporoma bridge across River Nun is progressing.

“The Nembe-Brass road in the Eastern senatorial district is receiving due attention to the admiration of the people. So much is going on in health, education, sports, youth and women empowerment and skills acquisition to build more capacities.

“The welfare of civil servants is at an all time high under the government. The special attention to the retirees is amazing where backlogs of gratuities are now being paid to pensioners. Security has continued to receive the attention of the government in collaboration with different security agencies in the State.”
