“The hoodlums started shooting sporadically on approaching the area command and threw IEDs and petrol bombs, gaining entrance.

“Unfortunately, the buildings in the police facility were affected.”

Tochukwu stated that in addition to the three police officers killed several facilities at the police station were burnt.

He said; “The command observed with grave concern the loss of lives and valuables as a result of this attack.”

He urged members of the public to remain calm assuring that the commissioner of police in the state, CP Echeng Echeng was  resolutely committed to depriving the criminal elements of the space they desire to perpetrate their evil acts.

He stated that further steps had been taken by CP Echeng to enhance the safety of lives and property in the state, adding that the attack on the police station was already being assessed and police operations were still ongoing.
