T-shirt sale is one of the most lucrative business one can venture into, even though, the venture is still expanding and becoming more valuable.

Consumers’ tastes and sense of fashion are what fuel the demand for t-shirts. Trends that can help popularise specific brands and fashions, like social media and celebrity endorsements, have an impact on the market as well.

Selling t-shirts with printed inscription or other designs printed on them is a fantastic way to express your creativity and self. Everyone has their ideal type of t-shirt to wear, it would not be inaccurate to say t-shirts are an essential part of anyone’s wardrobe because they have evolved from being a way to cover up to a way to express oneself over time.

Apart from being the most comfortable of the clothes, it has helped out in giving all sorts of messages and enhances human’s identity.

The founder of C.dot clothing, Aburimen Cyril, who has been in the industry for almost 15 years, confirmed that t-shirt sales is lucrative.

Profitability

‘I have made good progress, paid my bills, and I am still going strong financially, thanks to the business,’ he said.

Cyril claimed that every unit of cloth he sold brought in at least N2,000 profit.

For instance, I have some clothes at the rate of N10,000 and if I sell 10 units that day for N12,000, I will have made N20,000 that day.

Cyril stated that, anyone starting a t-shirt business must carve out a specific niche for himself by choosing target customers and locations where they congregate and bringing the business closer to them.

Since only some that can afford to purchase a t-shirt for N12,000, he explained that, he choses Computer Village, Ikeja because it is an international market with a variety of daily visitors.

Satisfying Customers

According to Cyril, his deliberate actions to satisfy customers has kept him going thus far. “I look for t-shirts in various cuts, sizes, and colours, but more importantly, I look for high quality because I have some customers who frequently visit my store whenever they visit Nigeria simply because clothing in London is expensive.

Market To Purchase

“You can buy clothes in a variety of locations to sell. However, the suppliers I work with are importers who bring in German, Turkish, and Vietnamese t-shirts. Additionally, I avoid using middlemen because doing so results in higher prices than purchasing directly from the importers,” he pointed out.

Skills Acquisition

Stating that, it is important to get advice from someone who has experience in the industry because it is difficult to enter without any prior knowledge, he added that, “you will gain knowledge of fundamental concepts such as quality materials and specifications, to name just two.”

Advice To Prospective Entrepreneurs

Because the business has its ups and downs, he advised that, “one should not spend more than one makes to stay afloat in this industry. You occasionally have big sales in a day and other times, you do not. Just ensure your income outweighs your expenses.”
