Showmax original Nigerian drama series “Princess On A Hill” is set to premiere in November.
It follows the story of Zara ( Odokoro) a young and naïve woman who gains fame after winning a reality show. Faced with the challenge of saving the company that boosted her career, she must navigate the manipulative environment created by the tyrannical CEO, Moyosore Lawson, while striving to prove her worth beyond her newfound title.
The series uniquely infuses a fairy-tale and dreamlike quality into its narrative.
Tolu Ajayi, one half of the co-creating duo alongside Abiola Sobo, explained, “We aim to capture that dreamlike essence in this contemporary African take on a universal mythical experience.
Business boardrooms transform into kingdoms, featuring a wounded king, strutting knights, scheming bishops, treacherous duchesses, a village belle who becomes a warrior princess, and the occasional village jester—all elements typical of a mythic tale.”
Dr. Busola Tejumola, head of content and Channels at Multichoice West Africa, added, “‘Princess On A Hill’ is not your usual boardroom drama. It remains committed to our goal of sharing authentic Nigerian stories and showcasing creative talent in African cinema.”
‘Princess On A Hill’ stars Nollywood veterans Ireti Doyle, Bimbo Manuel, Norbert Young, and others including Onyinye Odokoro (protagonist) Andrew Bunting, Efa Iwara, Chuka Ejorh, Mimi Chaka and Femi Jacobs, wihChuka Ejorh and Shayo Oke-Sobo as co-executive producers, and Bibi Ukp as the head.
