JUST-IN: Security Forces Kill 80 Bandits In Katsina

In a major breakthrough in the fight against banditry, 80 bandits were killed during a joint security operation in Jibia local government area of Katsina State.

The coordinated offensive, carried out on Saturday, January 4, 2025, targeted notorious hideouts in Kadoji, Matso-Matso, Bagga, Dogon Marke, and Takatsaba areas.

The operation was executed by the Air Component of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, alongside troops from the 17 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, the Police, the Department of State Services (DSS), Community Watch Corps, and local vigilantes.

Acting on credible intelligence, the joint forces struck at camps that had been hubs for escalating banditry in Jibia, Batsari, and Batagarawa local government areas of the State.

In addition to the 80 bandits neutralised, several others were injured, and their operational facilities were destroyed, significantly degrading their capacity to launch further attacks on innocent Nigerians.

The State’s Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr. Nasir Muazu, disclosed the feat in a statement on Sunday, applauding the efforts of the security agencies, describing the operation as a vital step toward restoring peace in the State and the wider North-West region.

He reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to working closely with security forces and local communities to maintain stability.

The decisive action comes as a relief to residents of the affected areas, who have faced increased insecurity in recent months. Authorities have called on citizens to remain vigilant and support ongoing security measures to ensure lasting peace.
