Kano State government has reiterated that there was no going back on the land recertification deadline of January 31, 2025.
The Commissioner for Land and Physical Planning, Abduljabar Muhammad Umar, stated this yesterday at a press conference while also announcing that the ministry had so far recertified over 2,000 lands since the beginning of the exercise.
He further said that since the beginning of the recertification, the ministry has witnessed over one million land owners coming for documentation, registration as well as the recertification.
Umar warned that land owners who refuse to come forward for recertification risk losing their lands at the end of the exercise at the end of the month.
“We have given ample opportunity for the recertification of the land titles. This is because Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf believes in doing things that serve the interests of Kano people and the deadline was given to allow everybody to be fully aware of the exercise,” he stated.
He noted that after the completion of the recertification exercise by the end of the month, the ministry would commence the certification of houses, shops and farm lands, asking owners of such properties to use the opportunity of the exercise for their own good.
The commissioner assured that staff would be available to attend to those coming for the process to renew their certificates.
