Lagos Agencies, Parastatals Role Model To Other Agencies – PMO

Lagos State Parastatals Monitoring Office (PMO) has said that the state agencies and parastatals are role models to other agencies because they look up to them to function optimally and storm the state from time to time to understudy the state’s system.

The state government said its 102 agencies and Parastatals became role models for others, because they are poised for effective performance, in terms of service delivery and revenue generation.

The Permanent Secretary, PMO, Mrs. Adetutu Ososanyan, who stated this on Thursday at the ongoing ministerial press to mark Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s second year of his second term in office, added that the primary assignment of her office is to ensure the viability of the agencies and Parastatals under it by ensuring they meet their targets.

She explained that the parastatal monitoring office has the Parastatals Revenue Generating Meeting (PARGEM), saying the platform was created to provide a platform for close monitoring of the activities of revenue-generating parastatals in a bid to identify and proffer solutions to issues hindering the generation of revenue in the state and get first-hand information on revenue generated.

Also, it will measure revenue performance vis-à-vis target, examine the effectiveness of strategies adopted by Parastatals in revenue collection, and develop standardised revenue collection methods.

She added that PARGEM meetings are held regularly to propose collective solutions to agencies and Parastatals, identify nonperforming Parastatals, and improve processes. They are also held to promote transparency in governance and assist Governor Sanwo-Olu in making informed decisions.

Mrs. Ososanya explained that the PMO also embarked on periodic evaluation of the agencies and Parastatals to determine income and revenue target performance according to the approved budget and identify Key Performance Indicators to drive better service delivery and ensure compliance with Government Financial guidelines.

On sanctioning Parastatals or agencies, she said her office does not focus on sanctioning them but on identifying their challenges, following up, and ensuring they overcome them.

Ososanya stated that in order for the public to be conversant with the activities and roles of the agencies/Parastatals, it embarked on airing their activities in local languages on radio stations, and the public also had opportunities to ask questions about their activities.
