Lawmaker, representing Imo North constituency, Senator Patrick Ndubueze has facilitated the training of over 100 youths in different vocational skills while also equipping them with start-ups.
The training took place between December 3 through 6, 2024 in Imo State, where men and women were thought different skills that would keep them busy and generate revenue.
The beneficiaries were trained in floor stamp concrete, production of liquid soap, body cream/petroleum jelly and antiseptic lotions, installation of 3D panels and wallpapers, beads crafting and headgear making and tile cleaning.
Speaking when he visited the beneficiaries at the training centre, Senator Ndubueze said skills acquisition programmes by governments at various strata are veritable tools for securing employment and sustainable development, albeit sustainable community development.
They are designed to offer training to improve individuals’ general proficiency and capacity, especially in relation to the present or future occupation.
He also said over the past two decades of the present democracy in Nigeria, it has become a prominent and acceptable intervention programme by governments and non governmental institutions, bodies and persons towards addressing the pervading menace of mostly youth unemployment prevalent in our country for some years.
The senator, who visited the trainee-beneficiaries recently saw some of them who were so appreciative and excited with his gesture and reciprocated by adorning the labels of some of their finished products with the Senators pictures.
Having noticed the appreciable success recorded in this last exercise, the processing for another batch of prospective beneficiaries of this ongoing project across the senatorial district will be coming up in a few months’ time.
