Two suspected middle-aged lesbians, Oby Laureta Osakwe and Cynthia Momah in Benin City, Edo State, have been caught by some youth having unlawful sexual intercourse, leading to their harassment and assault.
The incident, which happened at Ugbor in the Government Reservation Area (G.R.A) of Benin City, Edo State capital city, caused pandemonium around the vicinity as eye-witnesses and passers-by condemned what they described as jungle justice and act of barbarism perpetrated by the youths.
The suspected lesbians were, however, rescued by men of the Police Force, who came to the scene after the victims had been beaten and stripped naked, and took the duo away.
The suspected lesbians were, however, arrested and arraigned in a law court. It was also gathered that Cynthia escaped after they were granted bail while Oby was reportedly killed by some angry community youths.
As at the time of filing this report, the whereabouts of Cynthia Momah remained unknown as operatives of the Nigeria Police have intensified search to ensure she is rearrested and made to face the wrath of the law.
A source, who narrated what happened to our correspondent, said: “The story of Cynthia being a lesbian is everywhere. She was caught with her late friend when they met at a party after many years. We even learnt that she was married but the marriage hit the rock because of her lesbianism.
“It was after they were caught that the angry youth in the area descended on them beating them blue black and in the process, her sexual partner died. It is an abominable act in the country.”
Meanwhile, the Police authorities in Benin City, however, confirmed the incident, adding that effort was on to ensure Cynthia is rearrested and made to face the law.
