Man Arrested After Breaking Into Moroccan Embassy In Stockholm

A man has been arrested on Monday after breaking into the Moroccan Embassy in Stockholm, Sweden, where he smashed windows and hung a rainbow flag from one of the windows, according to police reports.

The incident escalated when the man, reportedly armed with a knife, barricaded himself in a room within the embassy. Police were forced to storm the building and apprehend him, the Swedish daily newspaper, Aftonbladet, reported.

The individual’s motive has remained unclear, but police have confirmed he was being investigated for several offences, including breaking and entering, aggravated vandalism, and causing bodily injury. According to authorities, shattered glass from one of the broken windows injured a passerby on the street below.

“The person was not seriously injured and was going to seek medical help on their own,” Police confirmed in a statement.

As of the time of filing this report, the embassy has not responded to requests for comment from AFP regarding the incident.
