Minister of environment, Malam Balarabe Abbas Lawal, yesterday in Abuja inaugurated the newly appointed chairmen and members of the governing boards of agencies under the Federal Ministry of Environment.
The minister urged the new appointees to embrace a systems-thinking approach to governance, saying it would promote cross-agency collaboration as well as foster transparency and encourage innovation in the discharge of their responsibilities.
Abbass emphasised that the ministry’s shared objective was to co-create practical and inclusive solutions that safeguard the environment and enhance the quality of life for all Nigerians.
The chairmen of the governing boards inaugurated include Senator Magnus Abe- National Agency for the Great Green Wall; Ma’azu Mohammed Bawa Rijai-National Biosafety Management Agency; Hon, Garba Datti Mohammad-NESREA; Hon. Ibrahim Tukur El- Sudi-EHCON; Hon. Abdulmalik Ahmed Usman-FRIN; Chief Edward Omo- Erewa-NOSDRA and Dr Kingsley Ononogbu-NPS.
While promising that the Federal Ministry of Environment would continue to provide strategic leadership, coordination and capacity enhancement across the environmental sector, the minister charged the board members to always ensure that board decisions align with key national frameworks.
