The Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir Ahmad El-rufai on Friday received the Torch of Unity from the Federal Ministry of Youths and Sports Development ahead of 21st National Sports Festival (NSF) billed for Asaba, Delta State.
The Torch of Unity was handed over to Governor El-rufai by the Zonal Coordinator of the Ministry, North-West zone, Muhammed Kabiru Datti, at Government House, Kaduna State.
Responding, El-rufai said that Kaduna State hope to host the 22nd National Sports Festival, adding that the State has all the facilities to host the next year’s NSF.
“It is an honour that I have today received the torch of unity. We hope that 22nd NSF will take place in Kaduna”.
“We are hoping that it will come back to Kaduna, we also hope to host other regional sports activities”.
El-rufai urged the contingents to work very hard in order to make the Kaduna State proud at NSF.
The Zonal Coordinator of the Federal Ministry of Sports and Youths Development, Muhammed Kabiru Datti, informed the Governor that the Torch of Unity was brought to Kaduna State as a tradition ahead of the 21st National Sports Festival.
He disclosed that the festival will take place in Asaba, Delta State, stressing that the torch would reach all 36 states of the Federation before the festival kicks-off.
Earlier in his remark, the Commissioner Kaduna State Ministry of Sports and Youths Development, Hon. Idris Nyam, told the Governor that the delegates were in the State to hand over the symbol of the National Sports festival to him.
