 Police Nab 6 Suspected Phone Snatchers In Bauchi

The police in Bauchi State have arrested six suspected phone snatchers harassing residents of Bayan Gari, a district around Bauchi metropolis.

LEADERSHIP Friday learnt that the gang, which gained notoriety for Sara-Suka and thuggery, also gives sleepless nights to residents of the Rafin-Makaranta community.

Parading the suspects, police public relations officer Bauchi State Command, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil said the suspects were successfully arrested after credible information about their hideout was given to the police.

“On April 4, 2023 at about 2230hrs, the command Rapid Response Squad (RRS) led by the commander swiftly acted on credible intelligence and raided a suspected criminal-infested hideout and Sara-Suka hoodlums situated at Bayan Gari and Rafin Makaranta which led to the arrest of different notorious offenders which include Sara-Suka and Phone Snatchers who have been terrorising Bauchi metropolis and beyond.

“The Following suspects were arrested during the raids. They are Abdulhamid Hassan, 20-year-old; Usman Muhammad 19-year-old; Abba Yau 22-year-old, Sunusi Abubakar 16-year-old, Abdulsalam Yunusa 19-year-old, Musa Gambo 16-year-old.

“All the aforementioned suspects have confessed to the crime. An investigation is ongoing, after which the suspects will be charged to court for prosecution,” he said.
