Clubs failing to honour fixtures in the national preliminary rounds of this year’s President’s Federation Cup competition will incur a fine of N1 million.
Ruth David, the Nigerian Football Federation’s (NFF) Director of Competitions, issued a statement on Monday, announcing that the state preliminary rounds of the nation’s longest-running football competition are scheduled to take place between 22nd March and 26th April.
The state preliminaries are set to commence on Sunday, 22nd March. Any club that has completed registration at the state level but subsequently fails to appear for a match will be penalised N500,000 (approximately £500).
The final matches of the state competition must be played on either Saturday, 25th April, or Sunday, 26th April. Each Football Association in the states and the FCT is required to submit their two representatives for the national competition on one of these two dates.
