In a press briefing on Wednesday, the commissioner said the two-day gathering will aim to tackle health sector challenges, showcase recent reforms and projects and mobilise partners for accelerated service delivery.

The summit, billed to take place at the Gombe International Conference Centre, is expected to draw high-profile participants, including Nigeria’s first lady, Remi Tinubu, United Nations deputy secretary-general Amina Mohammed, minister of Health Professor Ali Pate, development partners, members of the National Assembly, health experts, civil society organisations and media representatives.

The inauguration of major projects is among the summit’s headline events.

Dahiru said Mrs Tinubu will preside over the inauguration of the new College of Nursing in Gombe and the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Kumo, Akko local government area, which the commissioner described as central to expanding local clinical capacity and training more health professionals.

“The summit will also allow us to showcase our strides in policies, reforms, programmes and projects in the healthcare development delivery in Gombe State,” he said, emphasising that the gathering will bring together health and non-health stakeholders to map practical steps for further improvement.

An emergency health call centre and the deployment of ambulances across the state will also hold at the summit.
