The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Abbas Tajudeen has expressed shock over the death of the lawmaker representing Anambra South Senatorial District, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah.
Abbas, in a condolence message through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Abdullahi Krishi in Abuja on Saturday, expressed sadness and shock over the demise of the federal lawmaker.
Senator Ubah, who was a businessman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Capital Oil, reportedly died in London on Saturday.
The Speaker who described Ubah as one of the pillars of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the South-East geopolitical zone, also said he was a dedicated lawmaker, successful businessman and great philanthropist.
Abbas recalled how Senator Ubah recently donated funds supporting the APC in Anambra State, and how the late lawmaker celebrated the creation of the South-East Development Commission a few days ago.
He extended his condolences to the Ubah family, the people and government of Anambra State, and the Senate for the “huge loss,” while he prayed to God to grant Senator Ubah eternal rest.
Similarly, the Deputy Speaker of the House, Hon. Benjamin Kalu expressed shock and sadness over the death of the the industrialist and politician.
Kalu, in a condolence message by his Special Assistant, Press Affairs, Udora Orizu described the late lawmaker as a patriot and philanthropist, who made remarkable strides in the parliament, media, sports and petroleum downstream industry.
He recalled his determination to bring about a change in the fortunes of the people of his zone and the entire nation.
Kalu noted that Senator Ubah contributed immensely to the socio-economic development of Nigeria and through his Company Capital Oil Nigeria Ltd, football club, Ifeanyi Ubah FC of Nnewi, Ifeanyi Ubah Foundation, Authority newspaper and other numerous businesses, provided employments for many Nigerians.
He further described the Senator’s death as a great loss to Ndigbo, and Nigeria as a whole, stressing that he will be sorely missed.
Condoling his immediate family, the APC, people of Nnewi and the Anambra State Government over the irreparable loss, Kalu also prayed God to grant his soul eternal rest.
